What is a Juice Cleanse? Why Cleanse? And How do I do it?

A juice cleanse is as simple as it sounds. Simply stated, you are consuming a whole lot of organic cold pressed juice over a 1, 3 or 5 day period and omitting food from your diet. Cleansing allows your body, specifically your digestive tract to rest from digesting solid foods, eliminate excess build up or “sludge” in your intestinal tract, rid your bloodstream of toxins and boost your immune system! All of the beneficial vitamins and minerals in the juices are readily absorbed into the blood stream, while ridding it of toxic build up. This leaves you feeling energized, healthier and cleaner!

Before embarking upon a juice cleanse, there are a few essential steps to help ensure a successful cleanse. About 3 days prior to cleansing, drink LOTS of water and start eliminating junk from your diet. Eat whole, non-processed foods, mostly plant based. Avoid anything with added sugar, alcohol, dairy, red meat and gluten. This will help prepare your body for the flush of nutrients it’s about to experience with cleansing.

During your cleanse, you will consume 6 juices per day, 1 being a nut mylk for protein. You will also consume 6-8 full glasses of water throughout the day. No food is consumed during a juice cleanse. The nutrients and protein consumed through the cleanse will keep you full and fueled throughout the day.

After your cleanse, reintroduce foods slowly back into your diet. You do not want to overwhelm your digestive tract. Eat whole foods, non-processed like nuts, fish, fruits and greens. Remember to continue to consume lots of water as well.
